Week 7 Schedule

by J Scott on July 28, 2014

We started last week about two weeks behind schedule, but we made up an entire week! The framing crew delivered lumber on Monday, framed the basement and first level on Tuesday, framed the second level on Wednesday, framed/sheathed the roof on Friday and then framed the porches and deck on Saturday.

This coming week we will hopefully finish the framing (other than punch list items), and start preparing for mechanical work to start next week…

Here is what we’re looking like in terms of detailed schedule for this week:

  1. Water Meter Installation: On Monday morning, our utility contractor will be installing our new water meter. Hopefully this will just be a half-day process, and we’ll have the inspection on Monday afternoon.
  2. Roofing: On Monday, we’ll start roofing on both the main house and the porches/deck. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we’ll finish up the roofing on Tuesday.
  3. Stairs Installation: On Monday, the pre-constructed interior stairs will be delivered, and — depending on what time they’re delivered — they’ll be installed either on Monday afternoon or first thing Tuesday morning.
  4. Sheathing Inspection: On Tuesday afternoon, after the stairs are installed, we’ll have our sheathing inspection.
  5. House Wrap, Windows, Doors: On Wednesday, assuming we’ve successfully passed our sheathing inspection, we’ll finish the dry-in process by installing the house wrap, windows and exterior doors. At this point, we’re hopefully completely shielded from the weather, and will be ready to start interior work.
  6. Install Water & Sewer Lines: On Thursday and Friday, our plumber will be on-site to install the water and sewer lines from the street to the house (in preparation for rough plumbing starting the following week).
  7. Mechanical Walk-Throughs: On Thursday and Friday, I hope to meet with our plumber, electrical and HVAC contractors to do a walk-through of the house and ensure that we’re ready for mechanical rough-ins the following week.

If everything comes together as planned this week, we will officially have gained back a week that we lost earlier in the project and we’ll still be looking good for a Thanksgiving move-in…

I wouldn’t believe that framing job had I not seen it with my own eyes. You’re both doing a great job!
