We’ve received two foundation bids so far…
The first company I won’t mention, but I wasn’t thrilled with their responsiveness and organization. I had to deal with multiple different groups within the company to get different parts of the bid, and one group completely dropped the ball. I’m not convinced that dealing with them to do the work would be much better, so I’m cutting them loose before even finalizing their bid (despite the fact that the parts of the bid I did get were very reasonable).
The second company — The Bartley Corp — has been tremendously responsive, very detailed oriented and even made some great suggestions on our foundation design that will improve the house and potentially save us some money. Unfortunately, their initial bid is a good bit more than I had expected or wanted to pay (and a good bit more than the other company that I don’t plan to use), so I’m going to negotiate and try to get the price to within our budget.
I’m going to hold off posting the bid until I determine if I’ll be using them (and get the final numbers), but they ultimately bid a big chunk of work:
- Demo
- Excavation/Backfill
- Concrete for the Main House
- Concrete for the Garage, Porch and Deck Footers
- Waterproofing
- Driveway
I’ll post the final bid if/when I can come to terms with these guys…
